I love the unique architecture in Helsinki. I particularly love the interesting doorways. If you are in the city wander through some of the back streets and I’m sure you will be delighted by what you see. The area behind the Russian church had some particularly beautiful houses.
I thought I would add Helsinki doors to Jake Sprinter’s weekly photo challenge, which just happens to be……doors. Click here to see what the challenge is all about.
I would love to go through some of these doors to see inside.

Those are fabulous doors, I really love the wooden one with carved sunflowers!
These are geat, love the cats, I think I should have that one!
I like the cats too, but then I like them all.
Helsinki is an art deco treasure.
Art Nouveau is everywhere as well….it is a gorgeous city.
Why thank you Debra for the recommendation!
I LOVE your finnish doors! I really want to go to Finland someday. Knowing me and my wanderlust, I’ll make it there! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous doors!
You will love Finland, it is a beautiful country. I loved your doors!
All doors standing so nice and make me to walk through them… Thank you dear Debra, especially cats hit my eyes. Love, nia
There’s a sense of mystery in the doors . . . who designed them, for whom, and what is behind the door? Each door has a story . . . would be fascinating to learn them!
Fabulous and so distinctive Debra. The carved timber is beautiful.
A wonderful collection, and yes, distinctive:)
Helsinki has its own style of architecture.
I have a “thing” for doors anyway so I really enjoyed “wandering” past your Helsinki doorways
Helsinki is a delightful city to wander in.
Doors would be a great coffee table book – the photos are lovely, the doors are very often intriguing and with a bit of information and history thrown in, I think they would be a fascinating subject for a book. I do love doors and windows – in fact I very often navigate my way around Brisbane by thinking about which street has the house with the nice door and which the one with the lovely stained glass windows, etc etc – which makes it difficult for me to guide anyone else!
It is great to see people being individual. The doors must reflect some of the personality of the people inside.
There’s something so compelling about a door and where it leads. Beautiful pictures!
Thank you. Helsinki has some great buildings.
Reblogged this on The Legion of Door Whores.
Thank you for that.
Great selection and detail. I particularly like the 2nd to last and the first shot of the door with the great triangular arched entrance.
There are lots of gorgeous buildings in Helsinki
¡Me encanta esta serie!
I love the doorways in Helsinki.
