I often pass the sculpture of Larin Paraske in a little corner of Hakasalmi Park.
Larin Paraske was a folk poet who lived from 1833 until 1904. Her knowledge of Karelian culture was an inspiration to many, including Sibelius.
The lovely sculpture was created in 1936 by Alpo Sailo and was erected in the park in 1949.
She is there in all weather.
Stop by and say hello.
