Thank you for your interesting blog. I don´t know, did you know this about Helsinki and graffitis (Okay, I know that the street art is not same than illegal graffitis… but…): Back in 1998 the city of Helsinki started a campaign “stop töhryille” (eng. “stop the smudge”) and the city had a huge campaign towards illegal graffitis and the graffiti artists. I am now a bit too tired to explain this, but here is a link about it in Wikipedia “http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_t%C3%B6hryille” (in finnish :() They stopped the campaign a few years ago because of the inhabitants´s resistance. Nowadays there are legal graffities f.ex in Kalasatama- area.
Yes! I love street art! I am struggling with my english now, but the council had and still have really strick attitude towards the street art. And it all started after 1998 😦 Even most of the helsinkians (is that word :)) love street art! But next time when you come here, you need to go to that Kalasatama/Suvilahti area and check out all the street art there 🙂
And Brisbane is a great example (I have been there :)). I agree, that the signal boxes look much nicer with some color on!
