As well as the excellent covered market beside the harbour in Helsinki, there is a very good one just across the road from the Hakaniemi metro station…Hakaniemi Market Hall.
It has about 70 shops on 2 floors. The shops on the first floor sell foodstuffs and the second floor has souvenirs and handicrafts.
I didn’t get past the food. This is where Finns go to get really good fish and ecological vegetables. There are several cafeterias where it is possible to get great lunch.
The market was designed by Karl Hard and opened in 1914.
